 Dr. Mehmet Binal founded BICOM in 1988 to build DSP (Digital Signal Processing)-based enabling technologies for telecommunication and media processing equipment markets. In the years since then, BICOM has focused on cost-effective customization of its’ DSP processing platforms into OEM’s telecommunication equipments. This has enabled BICOM to carve out its own niche as the In-Skin, embedded media processing leader in the KTS/PBX market. BICOM expanded its technology further as a solutions supplier for the Internet based telecommunications equipment market. Using these technologies, BICOM teamed up with the IP (Internet Protocol-based) Private Branch Exchanges (“IP-PBXs”) companies to integrate the multimedia solutions technology into the PBX. BICOM decided to further diversify years of accumulated DSP know-how into the network enabled high end music distribution and music server market, realizing the need for a high quality, network-based music distribution system for multi-zone environments.
